Wonder Women coming to St Neots with preloved Fashion & Fizz pop up

On Sunday 28 April the Art & Soul Cafe in St Neots opens it doors to a Fashion & Fizz pop up.

I've gathered together an exciting group of women for this event, all champions of preloved, handcrafted, upcycling, recycling and customising. We hope that the people of St Neots will come along and be inspired by what we doing to promote slow fashion, considering purchases more carefully and shopping mindfully.

I'd like to introduce you to my team of Wonder Women.

Moss & Rose

Bringing along their rails of preloved clothes will be Moss & Rose. I met them at Barkway Market a few years ago, then again at the Indie Flea so we thought ... let's join forces.

Owners Hilde and Miranda are both scientists (I love that) with a passion for fashion ... vintage in particular.

Re-use, recycle and sustainability is at the heart of Moss & Rose. They believe that vintage fashion offers better quality, better price, and a chance to own something unique. For Hilde and Miranda, it’s about helping people realise that clothes are not to be worn for one season and then disposed of, and that vintage can be everyday wear.

Like me, they handpick every item they sell which is time consuming but ensures the items on their rails are good quality. At the pop up they'll have preloved for men and women.

Noko Designs

I first met Marnie, maker and creator at NokoDesigns, at a ‘Kitchen Disco’ evening at Provenance Brix & Mortar organised by the Early Night Club. We had a marvellous night dancing under the stars, but also selling our preloved clothes and jewellery to the happy guests. Marnie’s jewellery complemented my sequins and boho festival style clothes, so I knew a collaboration was on the cards.

Marnie's jewellery is all handmade with a hint of bohemian style, think blue skies, sandy beaches, turquoise seas and boho vibes! She sources beads from around the world but loves to use offcuts of fabric and leather, and recycled elements to keep her products as sustainable as possible.

QHere

Ruth set up the QHERE label in 2004 with sustainability at the core of her business.

Ruth is the queen of recycling and upcycling. Her bags and accessories are all made from discarded bicycle inner tubes (of which there are many in Cambridge!) and vinyl advertising banners.

Because the advertising banners are one-offs for specific events, anything created from them is unique. Coveted designs include Cambridge Festival of Ideas, Feast and Fast exhibition at The Fitzwilliam Museum, Science Festival, Defaced! Money, Conflict, Protest – again at The Fitz – which included the iconic Bowie Bag.

I met Ruth back in 2004 when she launched QHERE and I built her first website (yes, I was a web designer for 25 years). I admire the fact that she is constantly developing her designs, exploring new ideas and sticking to her ethical ethos.

Ruth will be bringing her fantastic collection of bags and accessories for men and women.

Mill House Millinery

As well as shopping, I also like to have something interactive going on at my pop ups. Susan of Mill House Millinery will be running a 'Flower Crown Making Workshop'. The course is 90 minutes and Susan will guide you though the process. She'll have a wide range of flowers, ribbons and trims so there'll be something to suit all tastes.

This is a great opportunity to create something unique for a festival, wedding or other special occasion.

The course is £30 per person and you can book online.

Bubbly Bandits

No Trash Chic pop up is complete without the appearance of the Bubbly Bandits . They'll be joining us again at the Art&Soul Cafe on Sunday 28 April for a day of Fashion & Fizz. What can be nicer than browsing an exciting collection of preloved clothing, handmade jewellery and upcycled accessories with a glass of bubbly.

My 'partner in crime' Gaby will be there to greet you and talk you through her superb range of Italian sparkling wines.
