Behind the scenes of the Velvet Magazine Fashion Shoot

Woo-hoo ... Trash Chic is off to a great start in 2024 with a Velvet Magazine fashion shoot at the Clayton Hotel in Cambridge.

Velvet is incredibly supportive of small businesses, independents and those of us who are 'one person bands' trying to make our mark locally (and beyond). Imagine my excitement when Editor Alice Ryan suggested a fashion shoot completely dedicated to my collection of preloved clothing.

Our first choice to model the collection was my friend singer/songwriter Maggie K de Monde ... I move in the right circles don't I?

Then I had the joyful task of choosing seven outfits. That proved to be difficult as I have so many wonderful and quirky clothes on my rails. Stylist, Kath Goodwin and I spent a fun afternoon in the Trash Chic 'shop' trying things on, mixing and matching, and coming up some stunning combinations. I learned a lot from Kath that day who has a really down to earth and commonsense approach to making the best of yourself and your wardrobe.

It was fascinating to be part of a professional fashion shoot. It took the whole day, from hair and make up through photographing the final outfit, and I captured some candid shots which I have been waiting patiently to share with you.

You can pick up a copy of the March issue of Velvet Magazine at various spots in Cambridge or read online.

Some of the clothes featured are for sale here on the Trash Chic website. Others will be available at my forthcoming pop ups - check out where on my events page. But if there's anything that catches your eye, just get in touch and ask me for more details.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without an amazing team (all women as it happens). I'll be following up this article with some behind the scenes shots but for now ...
