Meet the new Trash Chic model
I’m always on the lookout for people to model my preloved clothing. It’s a fun gig and, to date, anyone I have asked has been excited and delighted. Liz Barker is no exception.
In June this year I was invited to showcase two Trash Chic outfits at the Rainbow Runway in support of Cambridge Pride at Grand Arcade, Cambridge. I was under a bit of time pressure and had my fingers and toes crossed when I approached Liz (a regular customer) in the hope that she’d be up for it.
I received a quick response: YES, ABSOLUTELY. I LOVE YOUR CLOTHES!
Since then, Liz has modelled Trash Chic for the Second Hand September issue of Velvet Magazine, and most recently helped me showcase my lush Autumn/Winter collection on location here at Trash Chic Towers.
So, a bit about my multi-talented new model.
Liz Barker is a Cambridge lass who presented the BBC children’s flagship show Blue Peter for 6 years, having started out working in TV after studying philosophy at Southampton Uni.
Liz had many experiences during that time - from winning a medal in a bobsleigh championship to living in a remote village in Vietnam. She interviewed many stars including David Beckham and Elton John, launched Totally Dr Who and featured in various shows.
She was also cake decorator for the family bakery, presented a radio show on 105 Radio and most recently acted in the feature film ‘Harvey Greenfield’ as well as other shorts, theatre and radio plays.
Liz took her first book of poetry ‘Sweet Fanny Adams’ to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2024 performing a one woman show. She also hosts and produces the podcast series ‘This House’ which I am absolutely addicted to. In her spare time she is mum to four gorgeous humans and various pets.
And, of course, she loves all things vintage.
